Oven baked eggnog french toast


Ingredients

1 12 oz loaf french or italian bread
4 eggs
1 cup half & half
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp nutmeg, ground
powdered sugar

How to prepare

Cut the bread crosswise into 16 slices. Grease 2 lg cookie sheets. Place the bread slices on the sheets. Beat the eggs with the half & half, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg in a lg bowl until thoroughly blended. Pour the mixture over the bread on the cookie sheets, turning the slices to coat them evenly on both sides. Continue until all the mixture has been absorbed. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Bake until golden brown on both sides (8-10 minutes per side). Serve with powdered sugar sprinkled over.
