Basic chinese sauce


1 tbsp sesame oil
2 or 3 cloves garlic, minced
1-1/2 cups veg. Stock or water
4 tbsp soy sauce (or to taste)
3 tbsp dry sherry
1/2 to 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
1-1/2 tbsp cornstarch
